The Triple Transformation of companies

At IMT Partners, the triple transformation of companies is at the heart of our clients' issues. At the corporate level, digital transformation started about ten years ago, while the ecological transition is much more recent. Managerial transformation is in fact a cyclical trend that evolves according to generations, advances and societal issues.

Digital transformation

The digital transformation has seen the emergence of new necessary functions such as CTO, Product Owner or Scrum Manager. On the other hand, if in the past, interim management missions linked to digital were carried out on a more application-oriented basis, the digital transformation continues to progress through missions linked to infrastructures and their "Cloudification" as well as to data security.

"Interim management still operates within the scope of business transformation towards more agile models, but for the past 3 or 4 years, it has been mainly about leading digital infrastructure and data protection projects." Alexandre Lecherf, founding partner of IMT Partners.

Managerial Transformations

The new management styles, especially those linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, are strongly marked by a more intermediated communication and the distension of interpersonal relations. The democratization of telework requires real agility on the part of the manager, who must play with the governance of the company. Indeed, if telework increases the comfort of employees, it becomes a source of tension when the company refuses to apply it or when some employees do not play the game.

The second major issue facing managers is the retention of Generation Y.

"This generation is difficult to convince and does not see itself leading a long career in one company as their parents did in the past. So there is a need for managers to establish a convincing profile retention strategy." Alexandre Lecherf, founding partner of IMT Partners.

Especially now that the paradigm is shifting and allows employees to compete and raise the stakes between companies regarding working conditions.

Ecological transition

In companies, the topic of ecological transition is still a recent one for which they find it difficult to delegate, preferring internal management.

"Moreover, in the corporate world, there is no department dedicated to the ecological transition, but rather a CSR department," says Alexandre Lecherf.

In this dimension, interim managers are part of impact-based interim management and are rather assigned to lead change and train teams in CSR issues.

The interim manager's role is to intervene within a non-political perimeter by meeting the objectives set by the company's management. At IMT Partners, our interim managers intervene if a client needs a one-off or systemic reinforcement of skills, if it needs to carry out a transformation thanks to a neutral profile. The interim manager is as much a strategy provider as he is involved in the operational part of his mission. Interim management is therefore a fundamental element in the triple transformation of companies.
